You Think Dogs Don't Kill Babies

For some reason, unknown to me, certain breeds of dogs think that babies are toys like the ones we give our dogs to play with.  My dog, a 16 lb. Westie, likes tied up T-shirts.  He grabs them and shakes the hell out of them.  This simulates the way they were bred to kill rabbits.  Other breeds, I suppose, have their own quirks and several of them have killed babies as I've mentioned several times on this site.  How many warnings must I give before people with babies take it to heart.  I pray this is the last time it happens.

Little Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan died Saturday, April 28, just hours after being attacked by his family's Mastiff-mix dog while celebrating his first birthday in Henderson, Nevada, a suburban city in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.  Shahan (the father) had a warning for other families who have dogs and babies. "Always be careful," even if you trust your dog, he said as he choked back tears. "I trusted my dog, and now I don't have a baby or a dog”.

The Maryland Court of Appeals ruling declares pit bulls as a breed are "inherently dangerous," and the owner of a pit bull or a cross-bred pit that attacks is strictly liable for damages, as is any landlord who rents to a pit bull owner.

"Two more serious Pit Bull attacks have brought the total to five in New Mexico for May 2012."

One month, one state. What is the stats for all 50 states? When will people wise up? Pit bulls are six times more likely to attack their owners.

A Milwaukee, Wisconsin, dog walker and his wife were walking their own dog when a Pit Bull jumped from a second-floor balcony to attack their pet. The 55-year-old man is still in St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious bite wounds after he wrestled the Pit Bull off his dog. Police sent an e-mail saying the victim had more than 30 punctures on his arms, face, legs and torso and will require surgery . . . .

The Hartford Courant, June 29, 2012.
Brian O-------, Jr., 10 attacked by a neighbor's dog, in the front yard, at his home. The dog bit him in the back, neck, head and buttocks. The attack severed part of Brian's right ear. Luckily the father and mother was able to get the dog off of their son. Brian is recuperating and still has staples in the top of his head to close puncture wounds and a bandage over his mangled ear, which will require reconstructive surgery. Dog was a pit bull mastiff.

Aug. 2012, Connecticut. Two more attacks by pit bulls in separate towns. These advisement are not for pit bull owners as they don't believe their dog is dangerous. It's for everyone who doesn't own a pit bull or other dangerous animal to be extremely cautious around them.
